This course will give participants a basic understanding of the factors necessary to ensure their own safety and that of the colleagues and staff they supervise with regards to the safe movement of people.

This course is especially relevant for nursing and care staff.

As this course is very interactive it is advised that delegates are reasonably fit and able to take part in the majority of practical handling activities and wear appropriate clothing.

The course is based upon the principles of safe people moving and handling and includes the following:

• How to think and assess

• Safety procedures

• Avoiding unnecessary lifting

• Promoting independence

• People Moving and Handling Risk Assessment

• Practical techniques

At the conclusion of the course delegates will have an understanding of safe people moving and handling principles and possess the necessary skills to avoid the dangers of careless and unskilled moving and handling.

Certificates will be issued to participants who attend the entire course and satisfactorily demonstrate that they are able to follow the principles taught on the course.
